Top-level meeting held to suppress drugs in Shan State

The Burmese army commander in chief led a delegation to discuss plans 

to eliminate illegal drugs in a meeting with officials from the United 

Wa State Army (UWSA) and the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA)

 on Saturday, said a report in the Shan Herald on Monday.

UN to provide aid for Burma’s most troubled, poorest ethnic areas

Some of the most troubled areas of Burma will be the focus of a US$ 144 million 
United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which will tackle three main tasks 
to improve the regions’ development.  

The three-year plan is to be carried out in Kachin, Kayin, Chin, Rakhine

Monks Protest OIC Move

They lead a Buddhist demonstration against the Islamic group’s decision 
to set up a branch in Burma.

Hundreds of Buddhist monks gathered in the capital of western Burma’s 

religiously-divided Rakhine state Tuesday to demonstrate against 

Muslim Rohingyas and the 57-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s 

plans to open a branch office in Rangoon.
