Three US State Department officials met with Buddhist monks at Mandalay’s 
Masoeyein Monastery yesterday to discuss sectarian tensions in Arakan state 
and last week’s crackdown at the Latpadaung Copper Mine in Sagaing division.

Nasaka (Burma’s border security force) fired live rounds into Bagona village 
on Dec.5 at about 9 pm. No-one was hurt but security officers arrested 
5 people on allegations of participating in sectarian violence that broke out 
in Arakan State in June and October.
