CNF and state govt will cooperate on upcoming Chin National Day

The upcoming 56th Chin National Day celebration will be jointly organized 
by the Chin National Front (CNF) and Chin state government in Hakha. 
A motion was passed on Feb. 6 to allocate a budget of 130 lakhs
 for the Feb. 20 holiday that will be held in Vumtu Maung field in Chin state capital Hakha.

Kachin Catholic bishop calls for peace and true federalism

Last week the Bishop of Myitkyina, Francis Daw Tang, a respected leader 
of the catholic Kachin community, issued a strongly worded statement calling
 for peace and dialogue in Kachin state. The statement was released 
as the conflict between the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) 
and Burma's army continues throughout Kachin and parts of northwestern 
Shan states despite endless peace talks with the central government.

 in the northern province of Chiang Mai following reports that it was a possible 
target of attack from al-Qaida and Salafist terrorist groups this month,
