A company and
the Burmese army has blown up a rock mountain in Kyuak Pru, where famous
ancient pagodas existed, by dynamite to produce rock for the Chinese Shwe
Gas project, said local residents and a lawmaker.
“Burma’s Ministry
of Energy [MoE] is extracting an average of almost 1,300 million cubic feet of
natural gas per day from its onshore and offshore blocks,” said retired petroleum
and natural gas production official Kyaw Thu Ya.
