CNF and Government sign agreement

A twenty-seven point agreement was reached between the Chin National Front 
(CNF) and the central government during the second phase of union level peace talks.
 The meeting took place at the Myanmar Peace Center in Rangoon from Dec. 7-9. 
The CNF signed a cease fire with the Myanmar army last year.

Villagers tell Government they are not happy with Dawei Project

community groups and developers called for new impact assessments to be carried
 out on the Dawei Special Economic Zone.

Intel throws its chips in on Burma

The world’s largest semiconductor chip maker, California-based Intel, has announced 
that it will become the first semiconductor manufacturer in Burma with plans to begin 
providing its technologies via local Ingram Micro distributor KMD next year.

Citizens of 22 more countries to get visas on arrival

The passport holders of an additional 22 countries will soon be eligible 
to receive visas on arrival in Burma.
“Starting from June 1 [2012], we granted visas on arrival to tourists from 26 countries. 
Now, we are planning to grant visas on arrival to tourists from 22 more countries,” 
an official from the Department of Immigration and National Registration told Mizzima.

Suvarnabhumi—“Gateway to Burma”—offers ASEAN lanes

Suvarnabhumi International Airport recently opened three exclusive "ASEAN Lanes" 
for "ASEAN Nationals" visiting Thailand. This is part of the effort, or rather
 the public relations blitz, to prepare the country for the ASEAN Community (AC), 
or to be more precise the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) - the noble objective 
Thais are crazy about these days. Many ASEAN visitors were bewildered to see 
three white banners with black letters reading "ASEAN Nationals", as they had 
no idea of their purpose. Some said they looked like airport advertisements.
