Indian workshop looks at Burma’s ethnic policy

 (Mizzima) – Northeast India has a strong interests in ethnic events 
in Burma, and Burmese ethnic groups in India should try to influence 
the India government’s “Look East” policy, Dr. Walter Fernandes, 
the chairman of the North Eastern Social Research Centre (NESRC), 
said last week at a conference in Delhi.

UNFC gives deadline to halt military offensives

Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – The United Nationalities Federal Council 
(UNFC) says it will review the ethnic cease-fire agreements 
reached with the Burmese government if the government 
does not halt military offensives in Kachin State by June 10.

KNU Opening Liaison Office in Three Pagodas Pass

As implementation of a bilateral ceasefire agreement continues, 
the Karen National Union (KNU) has announced that on Tuesday 
it will open a liaison office in Three Pagodas Pass in southern 
Karen State in order to facilitate steps relating to the ceasefire process.
