Suu Kyi Requests Burma Mine Crackdown Investigation

30 Nov 2012

Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi spent a second day at a Chinese-owned
copper mine in Monywa township, Upper Burma. Local residents are angry
about the compensation they have been paid for use of their land.
They also complain that Chinese migrant workers have taken most of the jobs,
and the environmental risks from the project are high.
