Thai investors looking for local partners

A large group of Thai businessmen will visit Myanmar on November 
30 to look for local partners to start joint ventures in different sectors.

The group led by Federation of Thai Industries is comprised of 30 businesspersons 
from various sectors, including consumer goods, machinery, food retailing and manufacturing.

in 22 power projects.
The call came after awarding of 67 power projects to local and foreign companies, 
according to the ministry of electric power.

Residents in an earthquake-prone area by the Ayeyarwaddy river have been asked 
to move to safer grounds.
Experts said the riverbank in Thapike Kyin in Mandalay has been weakened after 
a strong earthquake, putting villages at risk.

Thai True Corp prepares to enter Myanmar cable TV market

Thailand's leading cable TV provider, True Corporation, plans to enter Myanmar 
cable TV market once the Myanmar government grants licences to foreign 
media organisations.
The Bangkok Post reported that True expects to finalise the joint-venture plan 
with the government and plans to invest at least 1 billion baht (US$31 million) 
for the cable TV project this year.

Parliamentary body urges upgrading metal exploration sector

Myanmar will benefit if the government demarcates the specific areas for metal 
exploration, said Nay Win Tun, chairman of the Mineral and Resources Affairs 
Committee of the Lower House of the Parliament.

Myanmar possesses 40 kinds of metal resources, which spread across half 
of the country’s territory, and these natural resources can be found 1,000-feet-deep 
in the earth, according to the Ministry of Mines, based on its field surveys 
in 176 out of 325 townships nationwide.
