Red Cross confirms it is ready to resume prison visits

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed on Tuesdaythat it will resume visits to prisons in Burma as soon as possible.

Chin political parties meet in Yangon

The Chin National Front (CNF) peace committee and other ethnic party leadersfrom inside Burma met for the first time during the second level union talks
with the government at Tawwin Rose Peace Hall in Yangon. The CNF signed
27 points of a 33 plan brought forth by the armed group with the government.
One point included recognizing Chin Day as a national holiday.

Myanmar Airways’ ageing aircraft to be replaced

At least two of Myanmar Airway’s ageing aircraft are
to be replaced
by state-of-the-art Embraer 190s from Brazil.
Than
Htun, the managing director of the state-run airline, said,
“The first Embraer
190 aircraft will arrive here on December 12.
The second one will be here in
the first week of January 2013.”
Forestry plantations not running at full capacity, says Ministry

granted forestry permits
by the Ministry of Environmental Conservations and Forestry, but
only
an estimated 83 percent of the lands are being devoted to forestry projects,
